Karadaiyan Nombu

Karadaiyan Nombu, also known as Karadayan Savitri Vritham is a vritham dedicated to Goddess Shakti or Kamakshi. Karadaiyan Nobu 2011 date is 14 March. It is observed mainly in Tamil Nadu on the last day in masi month (February – March). The vrata is performed in honour of Sathi Savitri who fought with Yama and got her husbands life back.
In 2011, the best time or auspicious time or shubha muhurtham for wearing sacred thread or Nombu Charadu during Karadaiyan Nombu is 8 to 9 in the night on 14 March 2011.

MAHASHIVA RATHRI is one of the important festivals of

HINDUS. It is rather a VRITHAM than a festival. It falls in the month of March (ie) In

the Tamil month of masi, krishnapaksham, chaturdasi thithi. This year it is on the

instant of March 2nd.

Once Lord Mahavishnu and Lord Brahma wanted to look at Lord Shiva’s head and foot.(adi mudi), to measure his greatness but their efforts went in vain. Then Lord Shiva presented himself before them in the form of Jothi (flame of fire). Only this day is celebrated as Mahashivarathri every year
